Primary healthcare plays a fundamental role in promoting overall health and well-being within a community. It is typically the first point of contact for individuals seeking medical attention. It provides important services like health check-ups, basic tests, referrals, and treatment for common illnesses, focusing on overall well-being.

Rural Primary Healthcare Centres

In partnership with the Rural Health Care Foundation (RHCF): We support nine rural healthcare centers in six districts of West Bengal, reaching approximately 400,000 patients annually with quality primary healthcare services. Our collaboration with RHCF since 2015 is committed to supporting the availability of affordable and patient-centric healthcare for rural communities.

Our direct intervention: Since 2009, we have been operating a dispensary in Gagret, district Una, Himachal Pradesh, reaching approximately 11,000 patients annually with the objective ‘to serve patients from underserved areas and provide them with quality healthcare services.’ The SDMC Trust dispensary addresses the primary healthcare needs of the surrounding community, including villagers, migrants, and other industry workers.”

Mobile Medical Unit (MMU)

We directly support primary care to 15 remote villages in Himachal Pradesh, reaching the unreachable with a well-equipped mobile outpatient van. In 2022, SDMC Trust expanded its healthcare services to Una and Gagret blocks through the introduction of a Mobile Medical Unit. This mobile clinic aims “to reach the unreached in accessing healthcare facilities by conducting mobile OPDs in remote villages and hamlets.”

Community Outreach

In partnership with RHCF, we support the conduction of door-to-door primary healthcare screenings in rural areas of West Bengal, ensuring preventive care for marginalized communities and early detection of chronic, eye, dental, and skin illnesses. Through door-to-door outreach in rural areas, the rural health assistants conduct preventive health screening in nearby villages of the centre.

Enabling early detection of communicable, non-communicable, and various preventable diseases. The outreach efforts are dedicated to raising awareness in the community and encouraging them to seek appropriate medical treatment.
